This month marked the return of the annual GRIDLIFE Midwest Festival, hosted at Gingerman Raceway in South Haven, Michigan.

The festival is a fast-paced and high-energy blend of camping, motorsports and live music, featuring a star-studded lineup of EDM artists, producers and DJ’s. Among them were the likes of Tsu Nami, Distinct Motive, Ray Volpe, and headliners Crankdat and Tape B, as well as many others.

I arrived on scene Friday night just after 7:00pm and immediately made my way to the main concert area. I got there just in time, as Tsu Nami was preparing to take the stage. Her music was a blend of well-known mainstream tracks with an EDM twist. Overall, she was a solid performer, paving the way for Distinct Motive who followed afterwards.

Distinct Motive’s set showcased a number of high-intensity beats and dubstep tracks. As the performance went on, the crowd got larger and larger, eager for the subsequent acts.

Next came Ray Volpe. Volpe, a dubstep producer from Charlotte, North Carolina, is quickly picking up steam as one of the more well-known artists in the EDM scene. Personally speaking, I was most excited for his performance, as this is an artist I’ve been dying to see live since I first discovered him years ago. Needless to say, it absolutely lived up to the hype. By playing tracks like Take Control, See You Drop and Crash Out, I was instantly captivated by the intense visuals, coupled with the pure energy of the music for the entire duration of his set.

Finally, the evening ended with an electrifying set from Crankdat. Best known for popular songs like Whiplash, STFU and Dollars, it was unquestionably an EDM performance for the history books. The crowd raged on and on, as the bass drops echoed through the night.

Ultimately, I have just one regret covering this year’s GRIDLIFE and it’s that I was not able to stay for the whole weekend due to a personal commitment the next day. I certainly would have liked to take in more of the racing, as well as Saturday night’s performances. However, this is all the motivation I need to attend next year.

If you’re looking for an unforgettable festival experience, GRIDLIFE is the way to go!

A special thank you to GRIDLIFE’s Marketing and Content Manager, Keleen Hitzel, for accommodating Lost In Concert at this year’s event.
