Christian McBride really doesn’t need an introduction from me. The eight-time Grammy Award winning jazz bassist is one of the greats, and his quartet is similarly accomplished. I personally enjoyed the group’s free flowing spontaneity and melodic expression, which is enhanced by the instrumentation of the ensemble. With just McBride and drummer Nasheet Waits accompanying and saxophonist Marcus Strickland and trumpeter Josh Evans in their solos, the audience can experience the composition of fantastic counterpoint.
