Cimafunk and the Tribe brought their fun, groovy, AfroCuban funk to close out the 2nd day of the Joshua Tree Music Festival with the highest of vibes. A killer mix of Afro-Carribean beats, dance and (as their name implies) funk, Cimafunk makes music even your granny would get down to. And I say this because among the hundreds of bopping heads in the crowd there was more than one silver head twerking among them.
Their beat was contagious and their lead singer’s charisma was electric, captivating quite literally everyone within earshot and getting everyone up and dancing. The set reminded me of actually being in Havana, where everywhere from the streets to the daiquiri bars are filled with music and dancing, and there’s a permeating love and happiness found in everyone you meet.
