Thank you Vancouver Sleep Clinic. Tim Bettinson, the young Australian made sure to start with our favorites from his previous released album, taking time to remind (or inform) the crowd he is not from Vancouver – almost an apology. He is clearly confident and full of energy with the looks of a hip-hop artist but talented with both vocals and playing the guitar. And I should add song-writing, which was highlighted when he shared the story of the new release Ayahuasca. He wrote it over a weekend, holed up in LA. The result is a very chill, ambient addition to his repertoire.
His newest stuff shows his depth of talent as he really mixes it up with a blend of dreamy voices with hip-hop beats (and I guess that explains the outfit). Even a cover by Drake? Vancouver Sleep Clinic is definitely worth checking out. Someone to Stay or Killing Me To Love You are nice entry points.
