Joey Spurgeon and Bren Eissman, the duo that makes up the indie band DWLLRS (pronounced dwellers), kicked off their ‘Everything I’ve Dreamed Of’ tour with a show at the Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles. They seemed even more excited than the crowd to be performing their first headline show of their tour. Bren kept turning to Joey to his left saying, “I never thought we’d make it here” and “I can’t believe we’re actually playing songs that we wrote in college in our dorm room”. It seems like performing live for a crowd who sings your lyrics back to you is an initial goal for every aspiring musician and it was emotional seeing their clear expressions of gratitude throughout the night. Their nostalgic-sounding music that highlights acoustic guitars and clear vocals from both boys first gained popularity on Tik Tok that led to a crowd of fans this night screaming excitedly at song titles they favored, like Blue Spirits and Dividends, and their song Things We Don’t Talk About got the whole crowd jumping. Bren talked and joked with the crowd like we were all close friends, and it was special sharing such an accomplishment with them. I can’t wait to see where they go next and be able to say we attended and reviewed their first show!
