Hayden Everett’s music and accompanying environment surrounding his live performance is unlike anything other than a tight-knit celebration of love and celebrating being human. In anticipation of his third EP release in about three years, Hayden played a live show at the section of Hollywood and Vine at the beloved nightclub and music venue, AVALON Hollywood & Bardot, hosted by the popular live music showcase promoters School Night, who specialize in hosting up-and-coming artists. Although most of his existing discography highlights being present in nature, even in an intimate Hollywood nightclub setting, Hayden’s endearing lyrics and strong vocals filled the room, making the space his own. His curated setlist overflowing with emotion gave the Los Angeles audience a deeply personal look into his life as he joked that “we’re starting sad, then you’ll think this might be a happy show, then [the last few songs] will sucker punch you again.” He was accompanied on stage by a saxophonist and female backup singer to support his softly written melodies. He also flexed his musical abilities by playing the acoustic guitar and then turning to the piano. Hayden closed his set by encouraging his audience to join him in singing. This quick demonstration felt like a warm embrace that represented the empathy, honesty, and call for community in his songs that are beautifully translated to his performance on stage.
