Opening for Tim Atlas at Schubas this past Sunday, local nu pop queen Carlile signaled again that her “opening up” days may very well be numbered. The red-dressed goddess took the stage, became instantly one with the aptly lit surroundings and expectant audience, and gave a performance to remember. The almost miraculous show made everybody feel engaged, even – and especially – when Carlile seemed to have brief technical difficulties. Her collaboration with Uushky, another Chicago phenomenon, is something to keep an eye on, as is everything else Carlile does.
